I’m Jessica.  I’m wife to Brett, Mama to Andrew, Alexis, Ashton, and Audree, and Marmee to Amanda and Peyton Grace.  I also have a pack of animals, Anthony Andres, Anouk, and Augustus Waters who bring me endless enjoyment and entertainment.  Yes, the start of every name having to be “A” has spun totally out of control!  I have practiced as a Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife but took that hat off for a season to work with my family at our restaurant. However, my love for women’s health and the issues that effect us has never waned.

Currently, I am working with my youngest daughter to become a licensed wildlife rehabiltator and look forward to taking the falconry exam with her in in the near future. During the first year of our experience rehabilitating raptors, I was required to write a journal of our experiences for the state’s records. When I sat down to scratch out the details, what poured out of my fingers (nearly without my active participation) was the first draft of a book called Nesting Season that I am working to revise and publish. You can read a portion of this writing in a my post from March 20th, the first day of spring in 2018. It is my deepest desire to share the beautiful magic that brought this work into our lives and inspire others to connect with and revere our natural world.

I’ve been homeschooling since 1999 and have graduated all four of my independent, creative, fire cracker children. I LOVE my adult relationships with these beings and now count them as my friends as well as offspring.   I also give classes on sourdough, fermentation, whole foods, and and natural remedies.  I love to cook, eat, travel, hike, talk to animals, snuggle babies and photograph everything.

The purpose of this blog is to share all of these adventures.  You’ll find recipes for the food we eat at home and the remedies that keep us healthy.  I’ll also share photographs and quotes that fuel or inspire me.

Blessed Be!

  1. I just saw your beautiful bread gifts on Chris Northrup’s update and came over here to see if you sell them. I have never baked bread but I read through your posts and I think I am going to give it a try! I loved reading about saurkraut and hope to make some of that from scratch too! I would definitely be interested in purchasing your bread if that becomes available! I enjoyed reading about your home schooling too!

    1. How nice to meet you in this wonderful way!! I do sell my bread but only locally. I live in Redlands, CA. If we aren’t close to each other geographically, I’m here to help online. All of the recipes I post are meant to give all the info needed to make them fun and easy.

      1. I live in Chicago so not close but I will try your recipes when I get a chance!

  2. Hello Jessica 🙋🏼‍♀️ I too got your info, and loving sourdough bread, from Christiane Northrup while watching one of her Videos as Kathleen mentioned below 🎉

I was wondering if you started your own sourdough starter? If so, would you share your recipe? I want to start making our breads sourdough breads only.
    All the best 🎉🎶🌈🌞

    1. Hi! Thanks for the follow. There are instructions here on the blog for growing your own starter. I haven’t created a menu here yet so just scroll down and you will see it. I also sell dehydrated starter with instructions for reconstituting it but it’s a really fun project to start it for yourself.
